2009 annual report: Doing business in a different way

The report outlines our fourth year into the Ten-Year Plan and highlights the many ways we have changed, as a region, how we seek to meet the needs of individuals and families who are homeless and the work we are doing as a community to end homelessness despite the continuing challenges of our lingering recession.

In 2009, the CEHKC and its dedicated partners:

  • Prevented homelessness for over 5,000 people through emergency assistance programs throughout the county.
  • Helped more than 4,700 individuals in more than 3,350 households to leave homelessness
  • Reduced the point-in-time count of people on the streets and in emergency shelter by four percent
  • Opened 1.065 new units of housing or dedicated subsidies – our highest production year ever
  • Created system-wide coordinated entry into programs for chronically homeless individuals

2008 annual report: Now. More than ever.

The report outlines our third year into the Ten-Year Plan, and we are showing remarkable progress in these times of great economic challenge.

In 2008, the CEHKC and its dedicated partners:

  • Prevented over 5,000 people with emergency assistance around the County to avoid homelessness;
  • Helped more than 4,600 individuals in almost 3,000 households were able to leave homelessness;
  • Added 662 new housing units or dedicated subsidies to bring our total opened or in the pipeline to 3,344 units.
  • Secured new fund sources to provide housing and supportive services to individuals and families countywide
  • Formed the Funders Group, comprised of all the major funders committed to ending homelessness, to more effectively align our resources and strategies;
  • Proved the effectiveness of our work in nationally acclaimed studies.

2007 annual report: Creating lasting solutions. Together

The 2007 Annual Report highlights countywide accomplishments in preventing homelessness, creating hundreds of new housing units, connecting that housing to supportive services, education and awareness efforts, and new state, county and local funding sources.

In 2007, the CEHKC and its many partners:
  • Prevented nearly 5,000 people from losing their housing
  • Helped 3,680 households leave homelessness
  • Added 486 units of housing for formerly homeless individuals and families
  • Linked that housing to the services these new residents need to stay housed and maximize their self-sufficiency
  • Secured substantial new investments – public and private, local and state
  • Enhanced the public’s awareness of homelessness

2006 annual report: It All Starts at Home

Offering a recap of the first full year of implementation of the Ten-Year Plan, the 2006 Annual Report highlights accomplishments in creating new affordable housing, new fund sources at the state, county and local levels, and building extraordinary partnerships across the county and the state that are moving the plan forward.

In 2006, the CEHKC and its partners:

  • Conducted a poll that shows that the people of King County want to see homelessness brought to an end and believe it can be done
  • Opened 467 units of housing with supportive services for individuals and families
  • Provided short-term financial assistance to more than 1,200 households
  • Moved forward with the training and development of the Safe Harbors homeless information system
  • Created a dashboard report to track our progress
  • Streamlined the process for how agencies apply for funding

2005-06 progress report: First Bold Steps

Published in June 2006, The First Bold Steps came out one year after the inauguration of the Committee to End Homelessness in King County and highlighted the beginning steps in implementing the Ten-Year Plan. The report covers July 2005 to June 2006 and chronicles the establishment of the governing structures, partnerships, and new fund sources that launched our regional efforts.
